The UK is prepared to move forward with using the entire amount of frozen Russian assets to aid the Ukrainian war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this coordinated action would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They further noted that the move would be carried out in tight collaboration with the America.

UK penalties have immobilized over £25bn of Russian funds since the Russian government initiated its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, up to this point, money sent to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had only been sourced from profits and interest generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and Germany were aligned in their desire to push forward toward utilizing the complete amount of the frozen Russia's state funds to conclude the conflict.

He added that further measures over the next period would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This announcement is subsequent to European leaders convened in the Danish capital recently to debate using immobilized Russian funds for a €140bn credit to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to seize or utilize seized Russian funds, as reported by reports.

The total of immobilized Russia's holdings in the EU is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

Russia carried out large-scale missile and drone strikes across Ukraine on that day, causing power cuts in many areas of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.

Several persons were killed and at least 20 people were hurt in the assault, Ukrainian officials stated.

In a update on X after the strike, Zelensky stated that the cynical and calculated attack targeted civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What is required is not empty words but firm measures - from the US, the European Union, and the seven nations - in supplying defense mechanisms and enforcing penalties," he wrote.

"All penalty impositions weakens the Russian war effort," Zelensky noted, in a separate post.

In the same period, Zelensky stated to reporters he would press Sir Keir to join the PURL scheme, under which alliance members buy military equipment from the America to provide to Ukraine.

While applauding the United Kingdom's strong support for Kyiv, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the program, as well as apply additional restrictions on Moscow.
