Salah Issues Statement to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that Salah expressed regret to the group of players after the fallout from his televised remarks.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a European match following criticising the club and suggesting his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has previously declined to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
He emphasized that the squad's reaction remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” he continued.
The midfielder also suggested that a player's desire to start is preferable. “I understand there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
Liverpool's form have been impressive in the period after the interview fallout. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not designed to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a desire to win,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, getting results and on a positive run.”
