A funding package that would terminate the most extended funding lapse in US history is advancing toward the House of Representatives for a crucial vote on the coming day.

On the 43rd day of the legislative standoff, lawmakers are reassembling in Washington to determine if they will approve a legislative agreement that would finance federal agencies for 60 days.

Republican leadership expressed confidence the spending plan would be approved by the House of Representatives, despite their tight margin. But leading opposition members promised to vote against it.

"We're reopening our United States," he stated on Tuesday at a Veterans Day event in the DC area. "Never should have been halted."

Consequences of the Shutdown
