A 60-day journey circling the Land Down Under was terminated following the tragic passing of an older woman who was stranded by the cruise liner on a distant tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the group for a break. The ship sailed away leaving her and went back later that day after the crew became aware the passenger was missing.

A major hunt located her remains the subsequent day.

Officials are investigating the tragedy, together with law enforcement and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the cruise operator announced that travelers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were told that the continuation of the cruise had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and previous engine troubles".
