At the budget last week, we made the right choices for Britain, cutting the cost of energy with savings of £150 on utilities, safeguarding the health service and combating the problem of impoverished children by scrapping the two-child restriction. Measures were also taken that the funds collected through taxes was done justly, with everyone contributing but those with the greatest capacity bearing an appropriate burden.

Due to the decisions enacted, the budget established a firmer financial footing, curbing inflationary pressures and state borrowing costs. This is crucial for defending our public services, when a tenth of all expenditures by government goes on borrowing costs.

Expanding Economic Measures

The budget builds on the action we have already taken to improve the economy: providing £120bn in extra capital investment in such things as highways, railways and utilities; enacting the biggest planning reforms in a generation to favor construction, not impediments; advocating for the growth of Heathrow and Gatwick; and signing trade deals with the EU, India and the US.

Taken together, these have allowed us to exceed our growth forecasts.

Renewing Our Nation

As I set out at the party conference, the government’s purpose is exactly the renewal of our economy, our communities and our state. By doing that, we will stop degradation and rebuild trust in our country.

We will confront those on the both sides who only offer grievance and whose approach would lead to continued weakening. Let me be clear, turning on the borrowing taps or returning us to austerity – that is the strategy of degradation and I cannot endorse it.

During an address next week, I will place the budget in context within the broader economic renewal on which the government will be assessed following completion of this parliament.

For us to realize the nationwide rejuvenation we seek, we must do more to promote development, to tackle inactivity among young people and to seek enhanced global partnership with our trading partners.

Our growth mission will include a reinforced attention on removing superfluous red tape. Often it has been those on the left who have supported restrictions, but there is nothing progressive in regulations which only function to boost the cost of living for the poorest, to hinder financial expansion unnecessarily, or stop a progressive administration achieving its aims.

Hence the rationale I am asking the business secretary to tackle the type of unnecessary embellishment and superfluous bureaucracy that increase expenses and impede our industrial strategy.

Social Security Reform

Worldwide Business Development

Ultimately, we must take further action to help our businesses engage in worldwide exchange. There is no credible economic vision for Britain that does not place us as a welcoming, business-oriented country.

We must confront the reality that the poorly executed departure agreement considerably harmed our commerce. One doesn't require to have a PhD in economics to know that establishing superfluous business impediments with your biggest trading partner will hinder development and boost prices.

Thus an aspect of our economic renewal will be persisting in advancing toward a enhanced business association with the EU. If we can get cheaper food, enhance expansion and generate employment by having a closer relationship with the EU, we should.
