Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his future following a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period like this with results so bad.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
